The original Friday the 13th was a scary movie when I was child. I didn’t even try to watch the movie, as a whole, until I was about 12 years old. By that point, I’d become so desensitized to blood-n-guts, that the classic horror flick played more like a comedy to me.
Even the mystique of the actually day, this Friday the 13th of May 2011, doesn’t carry the same weight that it once did.
What happened to “fear”? No, I realize that it still exists. But it has been transformed. Slasher movies don’t have the same cultural effect today. Freddy, Jason, Mike, or Leather (Face) don’t even make it into kids nightmares anymore!
So, what are nightmares made of these days?
